Six people were taken to the hospitals in Pamplona/Iruñea
with injuries after the first bull-running of this year's Sanfermin
fiesta - three of them from wounds caused by a goring from the bulls.
The most seriously injured is a 22 year-old man, José María
Pérez Hernández, from Navalcarnero, Madrid. He suffered
a ten centimeter goring to the exterior thigh, with no damage either
to his nerve system nor to his vascular veins. The prognostic is
considered as grave.
As a result of this year's first Sanfermin bull-run which took all
of 7 minutes and 14 seconds and featured bulls from the Marqués
de Demecq breeder, six people were admitted to hospitals in Pamplona/Iruñea.
The "Hospital de Navarra" has admitted José María
Pérez Hernández, a 22 year-old from Navalcarnero,
Madrid. He suffered a ten centimeter goring to the exterior thigh,
without suffering damage to the nerve center nor to his vascular
veins. However, his condition is considered grave.
The other two gored runners have been admitted to the "Virgen
del Camino" hospital. One of them, Luque Versace, a 20 year-old
Australian, was gored in the City Hall square, and he suffered a
goring to his left knee, with a reserved prognostic. At Telefónica,
a 19 year-old American, Elinezi Sain, was also gored in the left
leg. The prognostic is grave.
There were also three other people who suffered concussions and
were taken to the hospitals. Marta Santamaría Mansilla, a
21 year-old from Somaoz, (Cantabria) was taken from Mercaderes to
the Hospital of Navarra. She suffered contusion to the knee and
her prognostic is slightly grave. From the same spot, Patricia Astorkiza,
a 30 year-old from Bilbao, was admitted with a dislocation to the
right shoulder.
Finally, Paul Stains, a 35 year-old Londoner, was taken to the Virgen
del Camino hospital from the Mercaderes stretch of the run. He suffered
an open nasal contusion, with a less grave prognostic. |
